November Ceramics Workshops With Guy Mitchell Design / by Imogen Mitchell

Creative workshops are a wonderful way to take some quality time for yourself. Aside from being a great social experience where you can learn a new skill with a small group of others, the sessions enable you to have a creative outlet to boost your confidence and distract yourself from life's stresses and worries. At the end, you also have the pride and satisfaction of being able to say "I made that", which is really quite a powerful thing in itself.

At Guy Mitchell Design, we've been running ceramics workshops for quite some time now. We've welcomed many people of all ages and abilities through our doors and have paid close attention to what works particularly well. We've used this to fine-tune our sessions to offer you the best experience that we can.

We warmly invite you to come along and have a go at making your own beautiful ceramic art with Guy. You'll be in good hands; Guy is a professional ceramicist, working internationally and is qualified to BA Honours degree level in 3-Dimensional Design, Ceramics & Tableware.

What The Sessions Involve

This is the perfect opportunity to make something thoughtful for a loved one in time for Christmas, or even for your own home. Previous participants have made a variety of items, such as tiles, coasters, tree decorations and ornaments.

Our workshops are in two parts (attendance at both sessions is required).

Session 1: Learning to prepare clay, cutting out shapes, working with textures.

We then take the work away and fire it in our kiln.

Session 2: Learning how to hand glaze your bisque fired work from the previous session, using Guy's vibrant range of signature hand-mixed glazes.

We take the glazed work away once again and fire it in our kiln. Once it's ready, we will personally deliver it to you at your home.

What Previous Participants Say

"I really enjoyed the workshop and am very pleased with the coasters I made! The workshop had a nice, relaxed atmosphere and is an excellent platform to get acquainted with creating ceramics. I also think it is excellent value for money when you consider the whole process involved and the items you have at the end!" - Mia Braine

"A very relaxing workshop with super cool Guy. Discovering texture and colour was fun. Receiving our fired ceramic items and opening the box gave us a lovely, colourful surprise. Having homemade pieces throughout our house is a nice touch. The tiles we made show off our decorative candles beautifully. Thanks, Guy." - Phil McFarlane
